AGARTALA, September 01 (TIWN): A huge protest rally was organized today by All Tripura NGOs Association against the sentimental decision taken by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education for the madhyamik drop-out S.T. students.
Speaking to TIWN Secretary of All Tripura NGOs Association Ranabir Singha said that the education department and the state government is not taking any initiative to help the madhyamik drop-out S.T. students. It is an important issue considering the fact that tribals were denied equal opportunity in the past by the government and the policy-makers. It is crucial and important for the development of the tribal communities, the state, and the nation, he added.
He further said that education is one of the primary agents of transformation towards development. It is an activity, or a series of activities, or a process which may either improve the immediate living conditions or increase the potential for future living. It may play an important role in bringing tangible benefits by developing the skills of the people. It may expand livelihood opportunities and increase earning potential and thus help in tackling the problem of poverty at large. The major role that education has been able to play is with regard to knowledge inculcation and skill-improvement of the persons, he mentioned.
