AGARTALA, March 16 (TIWN): 21 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 21 Sector Assam Rifles on Friday conducted a workshop on women empowerment to promote awareness amongst the people about the need for empowering women and how to utilize various schemes allocated by the Govt of India for girl child and women.
The programme was conducted at Mandai Bazar of Jirania.
The workshop included a talk by Subhankar Debbarma, Manager at UBI and S S Samant, Manager at Gramin Bank Mandai.
Various schemes of Govt of India as 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao', 'Sukanya Samridhi' etc were discussed in details to benefit and aware the girl children and their guardians at there.
"The audience attendance at a good number was much helpful in opening accounts of women under the Sukanya Sambridhi Scheme", an Assam Rifles official said.
The efforts led by the Assam Rifles to promote women empowerment and increase awareness regarding various beneficiary govt schemes in the far flung areas was highly appreciated by the locals.
