AGARTALA, Feb 11 (TIWN): When Left has been alleging that the Central Govt is snatching the 90 % central fund rights under the present Modi Govt, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in an address with Tripura media said, "There is no debate on 90 : 10 funding with Northeast states and Jammu and Kashmir. It will be continued".
"Northeast is an integral part of the country and hence it's also an important part of Indian politics. Without developing Northeast, the country can't go ahead", Jaitley told media. "Whereas other states shares 40 : 60 funds with central Govt, the Northeast states and J&K will be enjoying 90 : 10 for a long time", added Jaitley.
Rubbishing Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's allegation against NITI for snatching state's powers, Jaitley said, "It's totally baseless claim whereas State and Centre must cooperate with each-other. Funds can't be loose and unattached and that's what NITI Aayog is".
"Northeast has been a very important part for Indian Politics too. In Tripura due to Left's Governance without any developmental vision has fueled heavy resentments among the common people and BJP has entered that space with developmental attitudes", he said.
"Tripura became full-fledged state under the Govt of India before 45 years but the profit of being full-fledged state, the people never got under the CPI-M Govt and two time's Congress led Govt. As a result an anti-left brigade was formed slowly and BJP has occupied the space", said Jaitley.
