UDAIPUR, Jan 24 (TIWN): Demanding eradication of drinking water crisis, the residents of Choy Ghuria in Udaipur staged a road blockade Wednesday on Udaipur-Amarpur road led a massive traffic jam at there.
The protest continued for more than two hours demanding proper water supply in the area.
Traffic was thrown out of gear for in the road, disrupting smooth movement of traffic in the area.
A protester alleged that the residents are facing acute drinking water crisis since last few days in the area said locality. Poor maintenance of pipelines supplying water to the city is largely to be blamed for the acute water crisis, he added. As a matter of fact, they have not been provided with sufficient drinking water during the last one week.
Despite repeated pleas to solve the scarcity of water no initiatives has been taken since days. As a consequence, the locals organised road blockade and demanded for immediate elimination of drinking water crisis.
However, getting verbal assurance from the DWS authority the localites withdrew their protest and let the traffic move swiftly.
