Assam Rifles Col, family members among 7 killed in Manipur ambush

Imphal, Nov 13 (TIWN) In one of the deadliest extremist attacks in recent times in northeast India, militants gunned down an Assam Rifles Colonel, his family members and four jawans in Manipur's Churachandpur district along Myanmar border on Saturday, the police said.
Army officials said terrorists first carried out IED blast to ambush the convoy of 46 Assam Rifles Commanding Officer Colonel Viplav Tripathi and then fired at the vehicles. The officer was returning from his forward company base to his battalion headquarters.
