Mumbai, April 4 : Actress Swastika Mukherjee, who was recently seen in the streaming movie 'Qala', has alleged that she received threatening emails from the co-producer Sandeep Sarkar of upcoming Bengali film 'Shibpur' and his associates.
Swastika has already filed a complaint at Golf Green Police Station. She has also reached out to Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA), along with the scanned copies of these threat mails.
Speaking to an entertainment portal the ‘Qala’ actor revealed that while shooting and dubbing for the film she never met Sandeep Sarkar. Co-producer Ajanta Sinha Roy used to communicate with the team. However, last month Sandeep Sarkar sent her a few threat emails. The producer claimed that he was an American citizen and that if Swastika didn’t ‘cooperate’ with the team then he would consult the US Consulate to make sure the actress never gets a US visa.
The seasoned actor shot the entire film and dubbed it and she never said that she won’t participate in promotional activities. The film, directed by Arindam Bhattacharya, was supposed to release in March and according to that Swastika had emailed her available dates to the production house. However, there was no response and in the meantime the release date was shifted. But no one from the production house informed her about the change and she got to know it from the director. She once again mailed the production house her available dates. Interestingly, Swastika claims she never received any marketing or PR plans. In fact, the actor says she even shared the poster of the film on her social media handles as soon as it was released.
