BELONIA, Dec 16 (TIWN): Belonia's Chottakhola located Indo-Bangla Maitri Park's inauguration remained incomplete without Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy's speech, a man known for his patriotism and knowledge. However, need to mention that the full progarmme had turned an election platform for CPI-M and from CPI-M leader Gautam Das to other comrades had dominated the show. But unfortunately, Manik Sarkar failed to point out a single event related to Tripura's development and his Govt's contribution in it. In the speech of Maitri Park Inauguration, all central projects from Feni river to Rail line till Sabroom, double-lane projects have been his election gimmicks of the day. All in all communist leaders had dominated the ground today, but not a single line was uttered on behalf of Govt of India, even though the park was made by central funds had been sanctioning from UPA era.

Addressing the rally CM Manik Sarkar said, "Tripura and Bangladesh have deep bonds. Even though there are some disturbances in the relation but it can not affect the Chittagong and Tripura's relation. We have rails, Feni river project in hands. Thus, our relation with Bangladesh is unbreakable".

Dipu Moni, then Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, laid the foundation stone of the "Bharat-Bangla Maitri Uddan" (India-Bangladesh Friendship Park) on November 11, 2010. A museum is also being set up at the park. It will showcase the arms and ammunition used in the Liberation War, rare photographs and war literature. The park will also feature 220 different plant species.

Other highlights include the surrounding hillocks, the Trichna Wildlife Sanctuary and a 500-year-old mosque in Bangladesh's Comilla district.

Statues of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the founder of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, have also been erected in the park.
