AGARTALA, Nov 19 (TIWN): Tripura’s opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath alleged that there were atleast 138 chit fund companies spread their umbrellas in Tripura as per the Govt’s record, but surprisingly Manik Sarkar and his Ministers have kept the issue hidden and ended with 75 to 78 chit fund companies identificantions. Addressing a press meet, Ratan Lal Nath said, “Till day SIT could not clearly say how many chit fund companies had taken shelter in Tripura. Sometimes they had assumed the number as 75 and sometimes it was increased at 78, but there were at least 138 chit fund companies looted the public. But till day the Govt here couldn’t release the actual data. What’s the reason behind it?â€
“Even though this is not my duty as I am not the investigating officer but still if you check in 2010 total 22 cases were filed against chit fund, whereas in 2011 the number of cases registered were 9, in 2012 it was 10 and in 2013 -74, 2014- 20, 2015 – 3 cases, in total 138 cases were registered which looted", he said.
"Only according to the 2014 the chit fund had looted Rs. 1172 crores whereas atleast Rs. 35,000 crores were totally looted by the companies. But neither the accurate number has been given by the Tripura Govt, not they gave the accurate number of cases registered under various police stations of Tripura against chit fund”, Nath told media.
“Out of 78 cases undertaken by SIT only 18 chargesheetes were submitted in the court and whether any investigation is going on or not nobody knows”, said the MLA.
MLA Ratan Lal Nath on Friday told press that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who promised on May 13, 2013 at 5.50 PM in the Assembly that it is Govt's duty to return the chit fund depositors invests, has proven as a total lie.
"Nothing will be given to public, because he has no intention. Moreover, planwise saving the Jiban Sambriddhi Chit fund owners like Ratan Chowdhury who looting Tripura's money built a flat Dum Dum was a totally misusing of public trust", said Nath.
"Till day Tripura Govt could not identify that how many chit fund companies had looted Tripura depositors, what is the total amount..........!", said Nath.
"There were at least 35,000 crores looted of Chit Fund companies, but State Govt could not identify the amount", said Nath to media.
