TIWN Oct 17, 2017
AGARTALA, Oct 17 (TIWN): When state wide protests are going on and NHMs are fueling due to irregular salaries, Tripura Health Minister Badal Chowdhury said that the allegation is totally false and state govt is increasing 5 % of their salaries every year. Talking to TIWN, Chowdhury said, “There was no such talks about regularization of NHMs but if necessary we will talk to the centreâ€. Asking Chowdhury that what about the increasing agitation among NHMs who are demanding to be regularized ? Chowdhury replied, “No, we didn’t discuss about it recently. Rather we are increasing 5 % salaries of the NHMs. This year the Central Govt has increased 3 %â€.
The NHM workers, who were appointed since 2005 were used in various Depts under the Health Mission, but even after multiple protests, Tripura Govt has not regularized them. Asking state's Health Minister Badal Chowdhury about their regularization, apart from false hopes and central-deprivation's allegation nothing could be heard, but this is the same Govt who violating MHRD's guidelines & Supreme Court's order created 12000 posts just to save illegally recruited 10323 teachers of the state.
Tripura NRHM Employees Welfare Association 's President Association President Abinash Tripura said, "Since 2005 the NHM Mission had started in Tripura. In 2007 the NRHM workers had been recruited under (State Health Welfare Society) but we were working for NHM and in 2012 NRHM was modified into NHM and since 2007 many employees were recruited in various depts under Tripura Health Service, but the recruitments were under 11 months' contract. After 11 months the workers are recontinued by state govt every year ".
However, it has been long 10 years that the NHM employees are working for the Health Dept but till day Regularization is a dream only. Moreover, the employees are not even getting their wages regularly, which has fueled mass anger among the employees.
Like SSA, RMSA Employees the 2300 NHM employees futures left uncertain as Tripura Health Dept held no discussion about NHM’s regularization even after complaints, press conference of the NHM employees. Although as Election gimmick the Minister just said if necessary we will talk the centre about their regularization, but once election is gone what will be their future nobody knows. Talking to TIWN, Chowdhury said, “No discussion was held regarding the regularization of the NHMs in the cabinet. If necessary when we will go to Delhi, we may talk to the Central Govt
