AGARTALA, July 24 (TIWN): BJP Minister Mansukh Mandaviya's visit has triggered massive controversy when left front raised question, how a Central Minister can meet his party friends and do political campaigning in a govt visit. Central Minister of Road Transport & Highways; Shipping; Chemical & Fertilizers for State Mansukh Mandaviya had visited Tripura on Saturday with an aim to review various projects in the state. The Minister also met the CM and held meeting with govt officials followed by a apolitical press conference. However, in the middle the Minister also visited GB Hospital, checked the generic medicine stores but BJP State President Biplab Deb was accompanied the Minister and met with 2 BJP injured activists admitted in GB hospital that heated the Communist hard.
The anger sparked as SFI, DYFI were holding rallies, Bijan Dhar held press meet alleging that the clash was erupted by BJP, but when at GB hospital the injured persons came before the camera the sympathy turned towards BJP. In that clash a teacher named Babul Majumder had died.
Apart from that Mansukh Mandaviya also met Sunil Deodhar, Biplab Deb in a felicitation meeting.
At the end of his visit criticism by CPI-M has been triggered and question raising whether a minister can meet political allies like this as the money behind his travel was paid from govt-fund ?
However, in the press conference Mandaviya said, "My visit is a part of Modi Govt's order to travel Northeast States per months".
But in the press conference no Govt Official from Tripura had accompanied the Central Minister.
Mansukh Mandaviya has arrived in Tripura on Saturday, held a courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at Secretariat in the presence of other high officials.
At the afternoon, he held a press conference to declare about various ongoing projects and future projects of Tripura.
Mandaviya has also received a grand welcome by BSF, BGB at Akhaura checkpost.
