AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): The doctors in Tripura eventhough stage mass demonstration reacting against ‘patients’ arrogance’, sometimes Doctors under Union’s garb go to strike without checking their patients in Govt hospitals, actually tend to be corrupt with Medicine scam commission-business. The highest sufferers due to such attitudes of the Doctors are those patients who need multiple medicines per day, whereas via Generic Medicine Centre such patients can buy medicines at very cheap price. As a myth to believe, Doctors have spread rumours that Generic Medicines are not of good quality, but on Saturday, Union Minister of Chemical & Fertilizers for State Mansukh Mandaviya confirmed that “not once but the Generic Medicines are tested twice and the price can not justify the quality of those drugs as the medicines service was launched to diminish the burden of the patient-party in the country”.

But hardly any doctor even in the govt hospital prescribes generic medicine for the patients, rather they send the patients to some particular shops to buy medicine, in exchange of commissions received from those shops, just as the doctors do with blood test, sugar test etc.

Addressing the media Mansukh Mandaviya  said, “Medical Council of India is suggesting the doctors to recommend the Generic Medicines for the patients uses. However, no such rule has been brought in this regard but after the generic medicine centre spread its network, rules will also come; it’s just a matter of time”.

Being asked by media about the unavailibility of the medicines the Minister said, the central govt will surely take action to provide more medicines.

However allegation that often comes that generic medicines are selling in private shops at high price and thus the patient party lost the oppurtunity of buying those medicines.

From Tripura 75 people have appealed to open Generic Medicine Centre to open here. The central govt has asked people to apply for opening generic medicine stores, but with one condition that the shop will have atleast one pharmacist.

“Soon, various laws will be brought for the doctors to fecilitite the people with generic medicines”, said the Minister.

This is the scenario of Tripura Health Service, where doctors never entertain the people for generic medicine, rather rumours have been spread against the quality of those drugs available in Generic Medicine stores, to kill the trust of the public about Generic Medicines, so that via chamber, private shops the drug business remain at high profit even at the cost of thousand poor people's lives.
