AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN): The public in Agartala experienced a hell like situation, unable to return from offices, students from private tuition due to the waterlog that downed whole Agartala City under rainwater, mixed with garbage from drains. On Wednesday a continuous rain for 2 hours in the evening turned Agartala City into a swimming pool led the bikes, cards standing over the road. Every corners of the town, every lane roads, local roads were under deep water, which can not be imagined unless one had experienced it. The drain water and rainwater together created just a blunder for hours. The situation till night 9 PM remained almost same. Bikers were moving from this way to that way, but ever ways were blocked by waterlog generated huge resentment among the drivers, travelers. After the pictures were taken, later the situation reportedly gone worst. Every year the scenery is getting repeated, whereas the budget is claimed as increasing with Rs. 360 crores this year. After incessant ruling in Tripura for long 24 years, Tripura CPI-M Govt has failed to solve the waterlog problem as the machines of water disposal maximum times do not work.

Many bikers were searching for ways to get out of the waterlog puzzle, but at the end all the roads at some point are highly logged with water. The waterlog passed travelers  also receive serious diseases on their skins  as Agartala’s open drains get fully mixed with the rain water, which must infect all.

It’s important to mention here that during the last budget counter speech on 2016, the AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha talked about various projects ongoing and also completed project among which he claimed about the almost completion of JNNURM’s (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) Rs. 102.22 crores, which was sanctioned for Storm Water Drainage system. But with the passing of a year, instead decreasing the problem, the problem has been further increased.

Whereas Agartala City residents pay the highest tax, their miseries during monsoon have no end.
