Tripura to observe Doctors’ Day

Agartala, June 27 (TIWN): On the occasion, the birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the Doctors’ Day will be observed across the state and the main function will be held throughout a gala programme at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala on July 1.

With the initiative of Health and Family Welfare Department in association with All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association and Retired Doctors’ Association this function would be staged, said the Director of Health Department- SR Debbarma in a press conference at AIDS Control Society conference hall, here today.

The programme will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the function and Tripura Chief Minister- Manik Sarkar while the Secretary of Health Department M Nagaraju will grace the programme as special guest and Health Minister- Badal Chowdhury will remain present as guest of honour.

The function will be presided over by the Director of Health Department and the chairman of the organizing committee - Dr. S R Debbarma. Besides, the president of Indian Medical Association (IMA), state branch- Dr. Binoy Bhushan Bhowmik, president of All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association- Dr. Swapan Kumar Das, president of Retired Doctors’ Association- Dr. Jiban Chakraborty and Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine- Dr. Kanulal Bhowmik will attend the programme as special guests.

As a part of the observance of Doctors’ Day, a blood donation camp would be organized at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) on June 29. In addition, with an endeavour to prevent the malaria epidemic in the state, several health camps will be organized in different districts of the state on the same day, said Dr Debbarma.
