AGARTALA, Jan 20 (TIWN): Whereas Officials from other States including Andaman and other Northeast states joined in the 2 day long workshop held at Agartala Pragna Bhawan on the issue of ‘Housing for All (Urban) for North Eastern States and Union Territories without Legislator’; but giving a surprise Tripura’s Urban Development Principal Secretary S K Rakesh remain absent from the discussion meet. However, only the West DM Millind Ramteke and Director of Urban Development Anindya Bhattacharjee were present on that occasion, who remained answerless when the Central Govt Officials sought the correct data from them.

During the discussion Khatibulla Sheikh, Lead Planning, PMU-MoHUPA said that till 30 square feet the Centra Govt is funding and the state should think about next levels of the housing scheme. But neither the design is ready, nor the housing planning is running properly.

Asking Ramteke about the data he said approximately 2 lakhs 71 thousand people are under the project but immediately Sheikh asked him, “What is ‘approximate’, why nothing is clear here. Other NE states like Arunachal have upgraded themselves in the scheme, but Tripura’s first level is not done, whereas within 2 months of application it was to be done’.However, Tripura’s online status is also very poor.

It was earlier reported that he housing scheme for poor is distributing as per the wish of the ruling Govt of Tripura, which has raised thousands of complains across Tripura. Although the project is yet to start in Urban areas, but names of the beneficiaries have already gathered by CPI-M Party machineries in urban bodies.

The guidelines set by the Ministry was not at all followed by the ruling govt in Tripura neither the real deprivers are going to be benefited with that project. BJP further claims the 60 % of the name submitted in the beneficiary list are fake.
