AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): The Union Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari before the budget of last Financial Year said that till day the Northeast roads were left as orphans where and no one was there to take care of those roads. Gadkari’s words are in action, although due to PWD corruption the works are not functioning in such manner which it should be. However, the drivers in next rainy season may not experience such horrifying times as the road has been repaired and there is no problem with that. The finishing touch in some places are giving on that roadway. The NHC road is also in good shape.Talking to North District Magistrate Sandeep Mahatme over phone he said the Tripura Section’s national highway has left with no problem at all. The next season will also go nicely. As per the source the Kadamtala area was renovated on temporary basis, as the central govt never felt the fund allocation directly to Tripura Finance dept secure and would be utilize in proper way.

Thus the work was left to the MORTH but Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari instructed his ministry to repair the heavily damaged part of National Highway 44, in the month of June which was causing hindrance for plying of vehicles to and from Tripura. On that time North DM Sandeep Mahatme was also funded by the central directly for the temporary work, whereas the Assam Part has already recovered in many parts.

However, from this year the overall work on a smooth highway mission for Tripura to begin as the fund is also to be doubled and as well as the central will directly work on the project. As per the Govt report the road ministry has sought 50 % higher allocation in FY 18 around Rs. 86,000 crores, which is almost Rs. 29,000 crores or about 50 % higher than the last year budget.

It’s worthy to mention here that the Union Transport Ministry also to focus how to reduce the accident rate in the country. In this regard Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that the roadway as well as the traffic system of the country to be reviewed to control the number of accidents.

But Tripura being ruled by CPI-M since 23 years, is acting like a rebel to the Prime Minister & his all policies. Whereas due to corruption in PWD the roadways are left in miserable shape in Tripura, but when the Central Govt. is trying to help the state will better connectivity due to non-cooperation it’s not happening in reality.
