AGARTALA, Jan 09 (TIWN): CPI-M led Tripura’s rampant corruption, Manik Sarkar’s smuggling tainted Ministers like Shahid Chowdhury’s influence now causing even Indo-Bangla-Kolkata bus service marred into smugglers den as regular smugglings of various contrabands continue. In a shocking revelation it has been unearthed that the Indo-Bangla Volvo bus service is violating all rules of passengers safety, excessively exporting illegal items from Tripura to Bangladesh, then from Bangladesh to Tripura. On Oct 16, the Bus itself service had began its maiden journey from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka. Regular smuggling of drugs, contrabands, illegal cash are so rampant that passengers are scared to undertake this long distance bus journey to avoid high priced flights. In a notification No. 19 (168)- TRTC / Estt/ P /94/ 2132-35, Dated. 24.12.2016 by Tripura Road Transport Corporation it was reported that the employees in the Volvo bus have been carrying unauthorized luggage & illegal money when its going via Bangladesh.

In that letter it was mentioned , “whereas, it has been reported that on 21st December Kolkata to Agartala via Dhaka Volvo bus service of this Corporation operated by (a) Dilip Ch. Das, Bus Conductor, (Acting Liason Officer), (b) Arabinda Debbarma, H.V. Driver, (C)  Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, H V Driver & Nilanjan Nama Helper Group-D employees were misbehaved with travelling passenger on the said Service. Not only this, it was also noticed that the crew members of the said service is allowing unauthorized luggage & Collect illegal money on mutuality with the unwanted person resulting the public impression for this service is badly hampered, as well as the Corporation has lost the confidence country security and invites certain criticism etc.”

However the Managing Director has asked the bus conductor to explain the reason behind loading of unauthorized luggage.

But what are the unauthorized luggage & why the practice of collecting illegal money, it’s unknown. Now question arises, if this is the condition of a bus service, which will be the next scenario after the launching of Indo-Bangla railway service.

Tripura is acting as one of the active corridor for Indo-Bangla smuggling and this incident again grew suspicion about the bus service’s fairness.

Volvo bus itself costs Rs 88 lakh 23 thousand and after all other chargers including insurance and other things the range stands at Rs. 91, 21,221.

That incident created mass resentments among the common passengers. Now question arises, what security has been provided to the common passengers of Tripura by Tripura Govt? Will not it affect the Volvo bus service business here?

Sonamura-Boxanagar’s smuggling kingpins like Roman Miah, ISI/ HUJI operative Mammon Miah to many other smugglers are either relatives or close operatives of Sports Minister Shahid Chowdhury who himself was accused by Opposition Parties for arms-smuggling which forced Chief Minister Manik Sarkar sack this smuggler-turned politician in earlier CPI-M Ministry.
