KOLKATA / AGARTALA Dec 28 (TIWN): Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) announced multilayered protest demonstrations in the state at the beginning of the new year against the Narendra Modi government's demonetization move. CPI-M which have been abandoned from rest of India and anyhow kept its last mantle alive in Tripura and partly at Kerala with ‘time-pass’ so called protests and anti- national propagandas. CPI-M's strike against demonetization was only effective in paralyzing Tripura as it’s the ruling party, but now the party is planning for various protest-programmes in coming days. But question raises, whereas bundles of political protest held against the cash crisis in the country but the political parties are happily managing time and money to waste in party campaigning, mass rallies and various seminars.

Whereas a person is not allowed to withdraw more than Rs. 2000/- but parties are happily managing for investing in rallies. With the one month of the completion of Govt’s decision on demonetization, the political parties have observed the day as ‘Black-Day’, and in Tripura place to place protests were held, but that time there was no cash-crisis.

On Nov 28,  Tripura’s two opposition parties held 3 separate protest rallies at Agartala against raising voice against demonetization. However in total 4 parties have protested against the demonetization : AAP, CPI-M, TMC and Congress. Among the 3 parties CPI-M decided to call for a strike, which was held on Monday.

But the rest 3 oppositions TMC and Congress highly criticized the way of CPI-M’s protest. Tripura Congress President MLA Birajit Sinha told TIWN that it was fully unnecessary to call the strike, when the country is undergoing such a crisis.

TMC MLA Asish Saha also rubbishes the idea of strike and said the strike has been opposed also in WB. TMC will not follow any Akrosh Diwas, but it would march protesting the demonetization.

The CPI-M state committee will organise rallies, road shows, demonstrations and sit-ins at various part of the state between January 1 to January 10 protesting the common man's suffering and misery caused by the demonetization, said a statement after the end of the two-day committee meet here.

Accusing the Modi government of making new announcements every day after demonetization, CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said such frequent changes in money withdrawal policy have further confused people.

"The Left parties should take the initiative to notify people about Central Government's real intentions behind the note ban," he said at the meeting.

Yechury also called for pposition political parties to unite on the issue of demonetization and go ahead with a proper plan of action.

Taking a swipe at the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for trying to hamper the secularism of the nation, Yechury call upon the CPI-M and other left parties to take a tough stand against them.

"BJP and RSS are trying to hit the foundation of secularism and democracy in the nation. CPI-M and the other left parties have to play an important role to fight against these powers," he added.
