AGARTALA, Dec 3 (TIWN): Tripura’s decaying Congress Party's Chief kept silent for a long finally raised voice for deprived people under Rangauti Panchayat, the Panchayat which is ruled by Congress. The border fencing work was done on that area before almost 9 / 10 yrs, when the villagers gave up their lands for the sake of border fencing. Being Indian citizens, they were promised to provided with lands but the scenario which reveals after Birjit Sinha visited there, was quite shocking. Talking to Sinha he said that the complex problems will be sorted out as he already held talks with the Army Commandant there, whereas he will write letter to the Home Ministry also. However, presently how the gate can be kept opened till 7 PM, it’s in mind as public are unable to come back from daily laboury within 5 PM when the gate closed.

Reportedly, when in 2006 the fencing was done then the problem began; although the people living  opposite side of the fencing are Indians, but regularly they have to show their identity cards and after proper checking they can cross the fencing.

But everyday at 5 PM as per rule the gate gets close which creates hurdles for the daily labours there. They have to cross about 10-12 KM per day and in case of any delay they spend their nights outside the home, TIWN reported.

Locals urged to keep the gate open till 7 PM but it remained without any action till day. Allegedly, due to the fencing 14 families are living outside the fencing. However, MLA Birajit Sinha visits the place and talked to the locals there. Sinha strongly criticized the situation and promised to take the issue to national level.

Sinha further added, ‘the present Ministry of Home Affairs has for sure solved the vexed Indo-Bangla border fencing by deciding to carry on the border fencing from the ‘Zero Line’, but the govt has to look after the problems of the Indians too’.

‘The people who sacrificed their lands they need to give new lands in Indian territory’, added Sinha.
