AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIWN): Tripura Urban Development Minister suddenly woke up from slumber after years to undertake 'clean Agartala' drive as opposition TMC, BJP cornering CPI-M on various issues. Apart from CM Manik Sarkar's recent anti-national comments against PM Modi and Indian Foreign Policy damaged the CPI-M image permanently which like to reflect in 2018's Assembly Election. On wednesday,a general meeting held under AMC, where SP West, DSP, Principal Secretary to Urban Development, AMC Mayor all were present. Another illiterate Minister (former Bus Conductor) Manik Dey at AMC meeting was almost acting rougue like Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who before masses, media is prefer to blast the higher officials of the concerned Dept. which help to draw the sympathy of public to his own vote-bank.

Manik Dey asked the AMC officials, “State Govt. is sanctioning you funds regularly, then why so many unorganized garbage points occupying the City?”. Minister also mentioned few places names, which he claimed have been recently identified by State Urban Ministry. Manik Dey also ordered to clean the whole town before Durga Puja. 

However, where Minister shown so much concern about the garbage disposals of Agartala but in contrast AMC Mayor’s own areas were cleared 2 months back as all the make-shift dustbins were removed to clean them, but the dustbins were never returned resulting mess of garbage-piling over the roads.

It’s worthy to mention here that PM Modi’s Rs. 98,000 crores Urban development project nationally working in various cities but failed to improve Agartala's civic amenities due to CPI-M Govt'spoor functioning.

In addition AMC's poor planning causing over flowing of drains due to clogged drainage, uncovered drains, dustbin-less town is hitting Puja month due to regular maintenance work’s lapses. The high profile Minister, coming out of their AC cars would take a breath in Agartala City & then he may decide in what way Agartala would be converted into a SMART City.

SMART City is out of question, Agartala’s unhealthy atmosphere is turning lives miserable for the public.

Whereas 'poor' CM Manik Sarkar says , “We have no money, Central is occupying the whole revenue—without money how can we develop?”, but the Smart City and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) which launched in 2015----- Tripura yet to see any trace of development under those projects. Recently Tripura Govt has denied to make Agartala as a SMAR City after few funding issue raised.

CMs like Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav are thinking to convert their Cities like Developed County’s cities, but here under 67 year’s Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the name of Urban Development Mission is swallowing Central Funds & as a result Agartala City is taking a dangerous shape with its broken roadway, waist level water with few splashes of rain & unorganized garbage points.
