AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): Concluding 4 day long India-Bangla Border Security Co-ordination meeting on Wednesday, BSF- BGB jointly held a press conference at BSF Tripura HQ at Salbagan Agartala, where the important issue raised about Northeast India’s militants sheltering in Myanmar-land and their presence at Bangladesh’s Chittakong Hill tracks. Since Indian PM Modi’s Bangladesh visit and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s sincere efforts, Northeast militants were pushed back from Chittakong Hill Tracks. Now as per intelligence sources, extremist elements have taken shelter in neighboring Myanmar. Bangladesh Security forces, RAB had cracked down ATTF,NLFT, ULFA headquarters .

So, extremists are using Myanmar-Bangla border to mount anti-India activities by using funds collected via drug-smuggling, kidnappings, extortions.

BGB  Regional Director Brigadier General Mohammad Habibul Karim in this regard said that if the militants have sheltered there, it’s fully Myanmar’s internal problem.

It’s their problem to flush out militants as Bangladesh have no role in Myanmar operations”, he added. BSF IGP K Dubey, addressing the press conference, discussed various border security issues.

Addressing the press conference, Dubey said, “This is the 2nd annual conference between BSF / BGB. The first conference was held in Nov 15’ 2015”. “The Indo Bangla relation is the first priority in developing security factors”, he added.

BGB regional Director said “Bangladesh doesn’t have any foreign tie-ups/ links with terrorists.  The terrorist groups are inspired from Bangladesh soil itself after they were misguided by few terrorist groups like JMB, HUJI. However, Bangladesh Govt. is trying its best to crush terrorism as soon as possible”,

“Moreover , for the sake of internal security, many initiatives were taken to secure the safety at Bangladesh-Mayanmar border.

“In last year, there were 17 BPOs set up at Bangladesh-Myanmar border”, BGB Brigadier General added. Moreover, 217 mile long unfenced border are getting fenced at Bangladesh Govt.’s cost, he added.

Bangladesh is however trying to seal its border by every side. “We are trying to set up new BOPs with North-East Zone more and more. Already 35 new BOPs have been set up, and more additional 50 BOPs will be set up in Indo-Bangla Border area with North East India”, he added.

“Since last 30 years there were almost no camps. But with the set up of new BOPs the Border security will be more evident”, he added.  “To bring the unguarded borders under security is the first priority”, said Karim.

The proper communication, bilateral talks, understanding between two countries are very much important to maintain the peace of all the countries.  However, there are many issues remained unsolved but after partisan the scenario will be different. New huts creation, fencing  will help in reducing crimes.

In 2015, June 10 Over 100 northeast militants have been killed in Indian Army's Myanmar operations but many are sheltering there. In this situation, the unsealed border at Bangladesh may allow the NE Militants residing at neighboring country Bangladesh. However, Habibul karim, declined all the allegations and said, Bangladesh has no outsider militants’ presence.

Presently, the BSF and BGB relation is very stong and also the Indo-Bangla relation going on strong footings.
