TELIAMURA, July 27 (TIWN): Due to the utter negligence of Health Department, few Doctors of Teliamura Village Hospital narrowly escaped on Tuesday when the roof of the doctors' quarter collapsed all on a sudden. It was at around 12 noon on Tuesday when Doctor Malabika Das was inside her room . Suddenly portions of the roof of a two storied building( doctors' quarter complex) collapsed on her bed . Luckily she escaped unhurt but out of panic she started to cry and her the noise another doctor from adjacent namely Sanjana Ghosh also came to her rescue and both hurriedly went out of the building. It is to be mentioned here that the Doctors' quarter in the Teliamura Village hospital was built more than thirty years back. Crores are given by Central Govt NHM, however due to the careless attitude of the Minister Badal Chowdhury’s Health Department, no repairing was done in this building. Corruption tainted CPI-M govt and its health department seem to be in slumber. On Tuesday night when TIWN talked with the officials , they said that luckily Doctor Malabika escaped unhurt but Health Dept must take steps for repairing immediately.

As such the entire building is now posing a serious threat to the Doctors.

Interestingly crores of fund is released from the Union govt especially through National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for renovation of the old buildings existed in the rural areas in the state.

It is to be mentioned that Tripura is already in the high risk Zone V of the earthquake prone zone but Govt has no concerns for human lives or its Medical employees.

But state govt is very callous on this serious issue. The local people  demanded that health department must look into the matter and take initiatives for renovation of this 30 years old doctors' quarter complex for the safety and security of  the doctors living here.

Health Minister Badal  Chowdhury, Boot licking Health Secretary Nagaraju kept themselves busy in buttering Manik Sarkar but never bothered to visit these rural Hospitals.
