AGARTALA, July 26 (TIWN): Controversy can be smelled as Transport Minister sounded hesitant to comment anything related to the commencement of the BG express Train scheduled to be inaugurated on July 31.
It is to be mentioned here that although there is a clamour that express train will be inaugurated on July31 but so far no official declaration is made regarding the name of the train.
Talking to TIWN correspondent, Transport Minister Manik Dey said that he don’t have any knowledge regarding the commencement of the train.
This term in itself is contradictory. It is to be mentioned here that Transport Minister Manik Dey few days back claimed that Union railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate and today Minister Dey was hesitant to comment anything over the commencement of the train.Controversy erupts, is it a game plan of ruling government to divert the attention of common people from the dilapidated National Highway. It is to be mentioned here that, running Express train has always remain a dilemma since the beginning. There was a time when it was spread in the media that Rajdhani express will run but ultimately nothing happened in case of Tripura. It will be not less than a miracle if BG Express train starts running from July 31.
It is nothing but a game plan of Tripura government where they are trying to bluff the people by diverting the concentration of the people from dilapidated nation al highway to the railway service as the today national highway has turned immovable due to the negligence of the state PWD department when they took over from the central.
However, adding another milestone in the history of Tripura, the land-locked state has finally made its entry in the BG railway map of the country.
In the first phase, the 210-km Lumding-Silchar gauge conversion project was completed last year. In the second phase, the 227-km Badarpur-Agartala gauge conversion was scheduled to be completed in March but was completed three months earlier. With the completion of gauge conversion work right up to Agartala, the Tripura capital was connected with the country’s broad gauge railway network through Guwahati at a distance of about 600 km.
