AGARTALA / DHAKA / NEW DELHI, May 31 (TIWN): China’s tactical plan to boost military co-operation, investments to Bangladesh already rattled Indian Defense think-tanks which resulting rapid infrastructure developments in this neglected NE region since India’s independence. China and Bangladesh on Sunday agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation during a meeting between visiting Chinese Defence Minister Chang Wanquan and Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid.Bangladesh and China have long been working closely in various fields and the cooperation has yielded fruitful results, Xinhua news agency quoted the Bangladeshi president as saying.

Chinese defence minister said China and Bangladesh have witnessed healthy and stable development in exchanges and cooperation in various fields since the two countries established diplomatic relations 41 years ago.

China’s defense and economic threat into India’s eastern region would directly help Tripura and NE region as Modi Govt already started rapid development of NE India’s infrastuctures with Rs 1 lakh crores investment to upgrade highways from 2016.

Tripura alongwith rest of NE states already attained enormous importance from the Indian Defence prospective considering China’s economic and territorial interest to gobble the whole south east asia with its long arm of military superpowers.

China is willing to work together with relevant countries, including Bangladesh, to actively promote the "Belt and Road" initiative and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor, to bring tangible development benefits to the people of the countries and advance regional peace and stability, said Chinese Defence Minister Chang.

Chinese Defence Minister expressed hope that the two armies would earnestly implement the important consensus reached between leaders of the two countries and strengthen friendly cooperation to provide strong support and guarantee to bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Chang also elaborated on China's position and propositions on the South China Sea issue which Bangladesh supported.

So, it’s a grave concern for India as its unable to stop China’s advancement towards neighboring Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had instructed Transport Ministry to put special emphasis on infrastructural development in the northeast as the region remained deprived off the progress for years.

"In next five years we will build a road network, with investment of Rs.one lakh crore, in the northeast region of the country. This will enable fast and overall development of the entire region," Gadkari said from Nagpur while speaking at "EkNayeeSubah" event to mark the Modi government's two years.

Development works estimated at Rs.40,000 crore have already started in the North East region, he added.

India’s options are limited as China rapidly progressing their influence in this region.

To counter China,  rapid economic development of NE region and accelerating co-operation withBangladesh likely to keep India’s NE region safe from future regional  instability.
