AGARTALA, May 31 (TIWN): Whereas Uttarpradesh, Bihar and many other states have banned the activity of loose cigarette selling, Tripura young generation is highly addicted with smoking and chewing tobaccos due to availability in the market.

The central Govt. had done its best to stop tobacco use, as in the Budget session of 2016-17, 15 % extra tax were imposed upon tobacco business, but Jaitley was bound to reduce the Tax later, as few of the states had protested saying it will not bring any affect in tobacco business.

However, Tripura Govt. has no concern to save the young generation from tobacco attacks.

Infact Tripura is highly popular for Ganja business, especially in Sonamura Subdivison, and North District.

As per data provided by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the cases of various types of cancer including prostate cancer and related deaths are on the rise in NE region.

As per the record (2011-2014) it was said that 3259 cancer patients were reported, whereas more 1434 deaths held in Tripura.

Tripura stands 2nd in cancer-deaths among 8 NE states (Record of 2011-14) in cancer dethas:

1.      Assam : 11,292 deaths,

2.      Tripura : 1434 deaths,

3.      Nagaland: 717 deaths,

4.      Manipur:  909 deaths,

5.      Mizoram: 402 deaths,

6.        Meghalaya: 1103 deaths,

7.       Arunachal Pradesh: 522 deaths,

The cancer cases in Tripura have been risen to highest peak. Every year the people get affected by this deadly disease.

Tobacco and the dietary habits of the people of this small hilly state is the creator of this disease too.

Tripura is victimized with massive Ganja plantation. Although police continuously hold raids but the Ganja plantation rate is surprisingly increasing rather than decreasing.

As a  result the death toll also rising high due to massive Ganja-product and selling of other tobacco is very open and wide.

Shop-keepers here don’t bother about to sell these products to the teen-aged boys and girls too, due to the loose  law and order set up in Tripura.
