PALATANA / UDAIPUR, May 6 (TIWN): Power situation in Tripura seems to have turned better with the completion of Performance Guarantee Test (PGT) in OTPC's 726.6 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Thermal Power plant in Palatana completed and Thrusday onwards power supply improved. PGT has been completed on Wednesday midnight, with the completion OTPC too started its generation giving a sigh a relief to Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited(TSECL) , which was facing big trouble with the shut down of OTPC since 10 days.As per updates received from OTPC it is learnt that current generation of OTPC is 500mw (250MW from each unit ). At around 12.30pm generation was 50mw from Unit-II but as day progressed OPTC increased its production . By Friday morning OTPC will touch its highest target ( around 700MW) . It is to be mentioned here that after 10,000 hours of continuous operation a unit needs to go through PGT and Unit-II of OTPC has already crossed its 10000 hours marks and as such PGT was compulsory to run Plants in healthy condition.

Meanwhile from Thursday afternoon power supply situation in the state improved as OTPC supplied to Tripura grid. And most of the sub -divisions ,which  undergone massive cuts, now power supply restored.  

Statewide loadshedding continue  due to apathy of Manik Sarkar led CPI-M Govt's mismanagement as state run TSECL yet to clear over Rs 400 crores bills ( Rs 183 crores to NEEPCO alone)

Talking to TIWN correspondent, TSECL MD Shyamal Roy claimed that Tripura is a LOAD-SHEDDING free State but that fact is even a 10 year old kid will laugh at TSECL MD for uttering goebel lies as State is undergoing frequent power cuts causing terrible misery of people.

Tripura's peak demand is 260MW whereas OTPC alone can generate over 700MW , followed by NEEPCO 101MW and other plants.

Root problem lies on the fact that Power Minister Manik Dey, CMD Shyamol Roy led TSECL never cared to clear massive dues to power generating plants which in turn unable to supply enough power to fill up 260MW daily demand of Tripura.
