NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): MP Jiten Chaudhury and Sankar Prasad Dutta have demanded to Railway Minister to introduce Rajdhani Express service from Agartala Railway station. Besides, the government also demanded for super-fast trains from Agartala railway station to boost the rail connection to the state and direct express train service between Kolkata and Agartala.
Demand for Rajdhani Express and other super-fast trains assumes significance keeping in mind of Railway authority’s plan to kick start BG conversion work from Agartala to link Tripura with the major cities of the country after 20th May.
Railway Minister assured to them to inaugurate Passenger Train service anytime after 20th May and also praises State Government efforts for their continuous support as far as BG Railway construction is concerned.
MPs also demanded for expansion of railway services including superfast express trains from Agartala. Moreover they also demanded for extension of BG line up to Sabroom as soon as possible.
The state government would extend all cooperation within its limited resources to help complete these projects. They also urged for setting up a separate railway division at Agartala and a railway recruitment centre for the benefit of the state’s people.
