AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): Poor road condition with ditches, pot holes, running adjacent to Nagerjala flyover spot, which was inaugurated last year with much romp & pomp by CM Manik Sarkar , now have become commuting nightmare for residents. Numerous stretches are muddy, filled with pot holes and sewage water overflowing from drains. Construction approach roads started last year, but nothing substantial was done so far to expand the roads. Poor condition of the road continues to trouble commuters, as the administration is moving at snail's pace to evict and demolish structures to facilitate expansion of side roads. And the ironical part is that road was re-laid barely a few months back by CPM backed contractors.
Due to the bad conditions of roads, traffic movement very slow causing snarls. Apart from causing accidents, one has to go through a very painful experience of driving through pothole-filled road daily."Encroachment remained a major hurdle in construction of the roads.
However, the work is going on and we hope it will be completed in the next few months," said a NCC construction official. With the beginning of the construction work of the fly-over work at Battala which is now extended to Bordowali, however chaos of traffic congestion has become a daily misery due to slumber of PWD Minister and West District Administration.
The ride is getting bumpier everyday with the rains lashing its fury on people. The entire stretch is getting worse by the day.

Many of the auto drivers simply denied for carrying passengers as it takes at least 30 to 45 minutes to cross the road from Bordowali to Battala due to the massive traffic jam. And that who has carried passengers from Kamper bazaar, Amatali, Badharghat and siddhi Asharm has adopted a separate route to drop the passengers at Battala via Chowdhury mill side lane.
Unauthorized parking of vehicles over the Howrah Bridge and on the roads is creating the chaos throughout the area making the movement of general public difficult. With ever-increasing number of vehicles, commuters are risking their lives daily by travelling in these road beasts not knowing whether they will safely reach their homes back. The daily travelling is not only frustrating, but a harrowing experience.
Loading and unloading of the passengers at the no-parking zone created mismanagement in the traffic movement. Thousands of vehicles remained stranded on the roads till 2 pm while the entire Battala town was virtually choked resulting into a chaos like situation there since Wednesday morning.
Carelessness attitude of Tripura Traffic and Police Department are responsible for this traffic jam on Wednesday morning.
