Manik Sarkar’s mockery of labeling CPI-M party to 3rd child of goat ? Is it a deliberate attempt to defy Yechury or another drama to fool masses ?

AGARTALA, April 28 (TIWN) : Tripura CM’s latest outburst against his own party labeling it to ‘goat’s 3rd child’ surprised political analysts. It is no surprise that after the landslides defeat in West Bengal and Kerala in 2011 Assembly Polls Manik Sarkar has been the last poster boy of CPI-M in national politics at least for the time being. But now all on a sudden Manik Sarkar has been in the headlines for a totally different reason. Manik is known for his intelligent speeches and quite mysteriously his speech on Lenin's birth anniversary has come to the spotlight creating an air of controversy even within the party's Tripura unit . Known to be a hardliner like former General Secretary Prakash Karat regarding flexibility towards Congress , Manik Sarkar is learnt to have uttered not a single word in CPI-M's Central Committee meeting in which CPI-M Central Committee gave clearance to forge pre-poll alliance with Congress in the Bengal Assembly polls.

Though senior leaders like Biman Bose and even CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury denied to call it an alliance but termed it as 'seat adjustment ' to fool electorates.

As usual Prakash Karat was against this seat adjustment and Karat lobby simply wanted to fight with TMC alone .

But it was Sitaram Yechury and his relation with AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi that paved the way for this alliance to become a reality.

At the same time CPI-M's Bengal lobby too was putting pressure to form alliance with Congress .

As usual CPI-M Kerala lobby and Tripura unit were against this alliance as the party has seemingly strong hold in Kerala this time and in Tripura it has been in power undisputedly since 1993 .

Ever since 2011 Manik Sarkar has been the star (?) campaigner for CPI-M across the country . In each and every election that CPI-M contested  Manik Sarkar went to address public rallies though the vote percentage of CPI-M did not increase even by 1% ; rather in most of the elections held recently upto Bihar Assembly polls CPI-M performed poorly and in many seats NOTA secured more votes than CPI-M .

But during the first four phases Manik Sarkar did not address any single rally in West Bengal in support of CPI-M . He went to Assam where the party has a very bleak chance of winning a single seat . However, from the fifth phase Manik Sarkar went to West Bengal where he was welcomed with " Vande Mataram " slogans by the Congress-CPI-M supporters.

Manik Sarkar has always some reservation for Congress because he knows that in Tripura Congress won't present any big challenge before him even in 2018 .

But invariably Manik Sarkar is seen to term Congress as ' enemy of the country ' , ' anti-poor party' and similar other terms. He knows that after the alliance with Congress in West Bengal , party leadership is facing various questions from its hardcore supporters as well as members about the validity of this alliance .

Thus, after returning from Kolkata Manik Sarkar made some serious remarks about the party even comparing it with the 3rd child of a goat . In Lenin's birth anniversary Manik Sarkar said ," Whenever we protest against Congress , Congress loses its foothold but BJP is gained . And again when we protest against BJP , BJP faces the jolt but Congress gains from it. And for us the condition is like the third child of the goat who is always seen to jump while the first two children eat the milk from their mother. When our 3rd one gets its opportunity , there remains no milk ."

All on a sudden this portion of the speech has become the hot issue and CPI-M party too has to face some embarrassing situations even at national level.

A highly placed sources in Melarmath told this correspondent ," Manik Sarkar made this remark very cunningly . By saying this he has thrown his dissatisfaction against the leadership regarding the said alliance and at the same time he has also tried to give a signal to the party members and supporters in Tripura that he is against this alliance . "

Actually Manik Sarkar is backed by Karat lobby( the most influential group ) in the party and Prakash Karat , who is known for his hard line , has not yet addressed any rally in West Bengal .

It is, indeed , an attempt by Karat lobby to focus their view point regarding the alliance with Congress and Manik Sarkar's statement is nothing but a part of that strategy, said TIWN's Melarmath sources.

At present CPI-M is not in a position to take any action against Manik Sarkar because majority CPI-M Central Committee members are not with the same view as Sitaram Yechury and his Bengal group. Otherwise , it would have been a difficult situation for Manik Sarkar .

At the same time political analysts predict that after the results of the West Bengal poll is declared , CPI-M may face a severe split within the party .

Even the Left allies like RSP , CPI and Forward Block won't give any pleasant situation to Team Yechry as the alliance with Congress was formed without taking consent from allies .

And as per the opinion poll surveys of most channels it has come to light that TMC will regain power in West Bengal with clean sweep. And Left Front's may even fail to grip on all the seats that it had won in 2011.

Thus, in am attempt to freeze the issue Sitaram Yechury may have asked Manik Sarkar to explain the stand in the next Politburo or Central Committee meeting which is likely to be held after poll results of the ongoing assembly elections.

However, there won't be any strict action. Earlier , former Chief Minister Nripen Chakraborty was expelled from CPI-M for speaking against Jyoti Basu , not against the party. But once known for being a political disciple disciple of Nripen Chakraborty , Manik Sarkar is now in feel good situation even after speaking against the party line.
