Congress, BJP suffered major jolt in the village committee election

AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN): Opposition parties on Saturday suffered a major loss in the Village Committee election. After the results has been declared on Saturday BJP and Congress suffered from a major shock after the parties have failed to grab a single seat at the Village Committee level. Most of the sets are grabbed by the left front and some are by the IPFT. It is to be mentioned here that both the political parties has conducted various election campaign with door to door campaign. Bharatiya Janta Party of the State has conducted various meetings and communicated with the mass at the Village Committee but it seems like mass has preferred the Left Front more than any other political parties. However, the Congress and BJP had suffered a shocking defeat at the village committee election. Despite of conducting several programmes yet the BJP had to suffer a major loss, Congress also had to face the similar. Though the parties have hoped for a positive result but with the declaration of the results of various village committees it seems like left is going to sweep the election.On the other hand, Left Front has already won by 902 seats of 58 village committees before the election itself as for those seats there were no opposition to contest the election. It is to be mentioned here that left front has won by all the seven seats at Dhupcherra Village Committee.

Among all the seven seats at Kalyanpur, IPFT has managed to grab only one seats and rest are won by the Left Front. 

Whereas, three seats of Sakbari village committee under Sabroom sub-division are grabbed by IPFT and three seats of Charilam Village Committee by Left Front.

Interestingly, left front has won 22 seats at Tulashikhar village committee under Khowai sub-division out of 23 seats and one seat by the IPFT.

All the seats of Dhanirampur, Dayal Para and Bijoy Nagar under Bakshnagar have been won by the Left Front.

It is to be mentioned here that a total of 85 percent turnout has been recorded in the vote cast on February 24. Besides, a total 84.15 percent of votes have been recorded on Friday at the re-polling of Village Committee election at Jampui and Charilam.

Reportedly, election has been conducted in two village committee which includes Bangshibari ADC village (ward number 2, 3, 4) and Longtrai ADC village (ward number- 7).

However, polling at Bongshi Bari under Charilam Block has been conducted in Rangapalia School.

According to the reports, till 1pm the vote has been recorded 40 percent. The polling was suppose to be end by February 24 but due to some issue re-polling has been conducted over four seats.

However, counting of votes has been conducted in 51 centres. Besides, A total of 6, 45,840 voters have exercises their franchise in the elections in 1262 polling stations. Of the total, 3, 26,931 are male whereas the rest 3, 18,909 are female voters.
