AGARTALA, Feb 12 (TIWN): Despite of several tall claims by the ministerial authority of the state saying that with the commencement of Palatana and with the extension hand of the other power plants of the state, Tripura will be a load-shedding free State, till day the civilians are facing unscheduled load shedding frequently. Where the State Government claims to make the capital a smart city on the other hand they fails to provide the basic necessity that is a load shedding free State. The people of the capital where has to face prolonged hours of load shedding, in the interior parts there are people who are continuing their life in dark for several days. Unscheduled load-shedding running into hours has landed the people across the State in dire straits.Allegedly, Tripura is facing serious load-shedding problem due to drop of supply from within state. Life and business has been largely affected due to power cuts enforced for hours every day. Load shedding in Tripura has made life miserable as Tripura’s own power generation is down to its half of total capacity during past few days.

Most areas of the city are facing load shedding of at least one to two hours per day. As a result the life of people has become miserable here in the State.

The sources said this load shedding is due to the ongoing maintenance work at different transformers.

It is to be mentioned here that The ONGC is so far able to supply required gas to run both the units of palatana and NEEPCO for uninterrupted generation of power in the state.

Monarchak has been doing well as the ONGC is supplying gas as per the agreement but one unit of Palatana power project remains suspended due to shortage of adequate gas, according to the sources.

However, ONGC is so far able to supply gas in full swing in order to operate the gas turbine of Monarchak and in the coming days with the development it will be able to gas to Palatana also to run the other unit of palatana soon.

The sources said that once the Sonamura GGS is ready to supply gas, the supply of gas to the power plant can be done without any interruption. Once the sonamura GGS start providing all the facilities it will pump gas in full swing.

It is to be mentioned here that currently, ONGC is supplying .5 MMSCMD gas to Monarchak power plant through an alternative pipe line. Once the facilities of ONGC develop it will be able to pump on gas to both the unit of OTPC and Monarchak for commercial generation.
