Bangladesh Home Secretary visits Tripura: Indo-Bangla relationship to get boost in coming days

AGARTALA, Feb 10 (TIWN): Bangladesh Home Secretary Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan along with another dignitary of Bangladesh High Commission Musharoff Hussein visited Tripura on Wednesday.Tripura and Bangladesh are not merely neighbors, but two different nations with which both the countries share history, culture, civilization, and enduring links between people. The ideals of democracy, secularism, pluralism and rule of law also serve as a link between India and Bangladesh.Improved border management, increased trade with Bangladesh, Line of Credit, increased energy transfers; bilateral cooperation in Railways and Maitree Express vitalizes the fact that India Bangladesh relationship is a two-way street. With development in trade, market access, power, border management, development cooperation, infrastructure, man to man direct communication has given boost to the friendship of the Indo-Bangla relationship.

The sources said that for the upgradation of the Bangladesh visa office at Agartala, the members visited the VISA office.

Visiting Tripura Bangladesh Home Secretary Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan said that the Indo-Bangladesh relationship will develop more in the coming days.

However, the sources further said that the team visited Indo-Bangla border area, state Museum and also other several spot.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is a ministry of the Government of Bangladesh. An interior ministry, it is mainly responsible for the maintenance of internal security and domestic policy.

The relationship between two countries is strengthening day by day. Substantial quantum of trade and commerce has already been undertaken by both the countries. MoU’s have been inked in various field of co-operation between the two countries. 

The government of India has taken this decision to take forward the existing cordial relations between the two countries as well as to enable Bangladesh to expand its diplomatic activities in India.

 According to the source, both the delegations comprised representatives of the paramilitary border forces, police, customs and foreign offices of the two countries.

Bangladesh has upgraded its diplomatic mission in Agartala to an assistant high commission and posted Sakhawat Hussain as the first assistant high commissioner to further boost bilateral relations, a Bangladesh official said on Monday.
 

"We are looking at greater economic integration between Bangladesh and India's north-east for mutual benefit. It will particularly facilitate north-east's socio-economic development and better connectivity with the rest of India”, the dignitaries added.


Bangladesh has diplomatic missions in New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. New Delhi has opened assistant high commissions in Khulna and Sylhet in Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh earlier decided to upgrade the existing 27 custom stations in Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram.

With the opening of more Bangladesh diplomatic missions in north-east India, trade and business will further improve, Bangladesh Home Secretary Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan.
