AGARTALA, Nov 30 (TIWN): Doesn’t matter how much Manik Sarkar is screaming at his election-rallies about the “rapid progress of Tripura in comparison to any other states of India, but his own colleague Minister Badal Chowdhury while talking to TIWN about the work of NH-44 repeatedly said, “No-way it can be denied that NH-44 is in bad-shape which is bringing only miseries to common people”. Talking to Choudhury on Sunday evening, Minister said the NH-44 is in pathetic state not only at Churaibari road but it includes the capital city too, whether in comparison, the road towards South Tripura is in better shape. However it’s to be mentioned here that whether Manik Govt's priorities in scam and image building exercise, few dynamic Ministers are still there who likes to discuss the real facts and figures, which are occurring in state. May be that is the reason that Sarkar is not allowing good Ministers like Badal for doing their works and snubbing them in party’s top most position. To avoid inner party competition, Tripura's most dynamic Industry & Commerce Minister Jiten Chowdhury was pushed out from the State, Manik's next plan is to kick out Badal Chowdhury from Tripura Cabinet after 2018 election. NH-44 is in such bad shape due to Manik's control over all depts including PWD. How far few Ministers want real development, but works are being done as all top officials are remotely controlled by CM. As a result development has become an uphill task in Manik’s era as Chief Minister always scared to give independent hand in running in Govt Departments.

However, detaling about the funds for NH-44, Chowdhury said, the state govt. has recently asked Centre for a fund for renovation of NH-44, which is yet to be come.

The fund which came, the state govt. has already finished as per report. Now he state govt. is investing from state fund, so the NH-44 repair delay continues.

Choudhury also mentioned that due to the broad-gauge work common people are suffering a lot, which has become really a headache for us.

As soon as the broad-gauge work will end, it will help to solve this issue.

Choudhury however, didn’t leave the central govt. for its negligence and said, “NH-44 belongs to central govt., so how come the state govt. fully responsible for it?” “It’s not at all cleared that who will do the NH-44 work: central govt.’s team or Tripura State Govt ! ”, said Chowdhury.

He added, “In comparison to Assam, Tripura still is doing something for NH-44”. Blaming the Assam Govt. he told TIWN that Assam Govt. not only lacks co-operation with Tripura Govt. but has no concerned about the issue to send the joint-message to the Central Govt”.

“The Churaibari road has gone to its extreme bad condition which cannot be denied”, said Chowdhury.

“Central Govt. after taking the charge of NH-44 the matter has gone worst as no one is ready to accept the blames for the bad condition of National Highway----which has made the issue more critical”, said Chowdhury.

Talking about the double-lane roadway from Agartala to Sabroom Chowdhury said, “This double lane work is in focus of PWD Tripura, and hopefully work will not be interrupted in between”.

However, at the end Chowdhury said, “It’s can’t be denied that a major part of NE state Tripura’s development depends upon the situation of NH-44 and both the state & central Govt. is responsible for its progress and as well as demolishing condition”.
