Alternative National Highway road breaks down, State PWD’s negligence since 7 years exposed
TIWN

AGARTALA, Oct 7 (TIWN): Busy NHC road which was opened after NH-44 became unworthy for trafficking, has become risky with a huge part of NHC road had broken down. According to the report as the movement of vehicles on NH-44 has been stopped, along with the halt of Rain-lines service, the load on alternative NHC has been increased more. NHC road, which was left in bad condition since years, and just used in emergency time, suddenly with increasing pressure upon it, the road-condition has been worsen, due to this the way has become risky for vehicle movement.

However, it’s to be mentioned here that a bridge over NHC road has also been broken down. The broken part of the road covers from Durga Chowmuhani to Kumatghat via Faitkroy. This is the only way which connects the various districts of Tripura with North Triupura and Unokoti District. This road however started before 7 years and funds had been kept on allocating for this road, the condition of the road remained undeveloped.

Due to frequent terrorist attacks, the road was not been opened for common movements, whether funds had been sanctioned: to make the place better and to stop terrorist violence over there. In the name of forest-cleaning, for road-maintenance, funds sanctioned frequently, but only a section of employees of PWD Dept. had been profited by it. Allegations have been coming that every month the funds were looted like this by PWD Dept. with the name of NHC road.

The road had been started before 7 years, and regularly vehicles are being moved through this road. But from Durga Chowmuhani to the bridge no.3 the road condition is pathetic. However, the maintenance work continues during the whole year. Earlier the vehicle movements were from Kamalpur to Ambasa, from Ambasa to Kumarghat via Manughat; but presently they can use NHC road to Kumarghat, via Durga Chowmuhani. Once, the road is renovated the smooth movement of traffic may be started.

Within few days of passage, that the pressure has been increased upon the road, it broke down. The common people are in demand to renovate the road soon. However it’s visible that Tripura Govt.’s low quality of road-maintenance work has hit the state. From rural area to town everywhere the state is suffering due to the low quality of road-construction.
