AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): NE state Tripura, one of the most backward states of Independent India, is suffering in many fields amongst which the transport-systems and connectivity via road are the most sufferers. As Tripura is a hilly state, with no water ways as well as no proper functional rail-line connection, so Tripura’s only one option left for better transport system is the road way. But due to the govt.’s slow movement towards progress and the negligence in all dept.’s including PWD, Tripura road-way connectivity has been suffering a lot.

As Airways is not for all common people and rail-line connectivity has failed to satisfy the people with its inconsistency, so the only one option, the road-way was the available way for them.

But Tripura’s road connections regardless village and towns have become deplorable since decades. In town areas, narrow roads with improper drainage system, have hit the life. The roads are broken in many parts and filled with many holes. State-wide smooth running of vehicles has become impossible. Everyday so many accidents are occurring due to this bad condition of road, not only this; vehicles are also damaging due to this bumping ways.

In rural areas, hardly roads are found matalled. Maximum parts are muddy roads over there. As a result vehicles movement at rural areas have become a hectic especially during the rainy season.

Apart from this, National Highway, the life line of the state is also suffering badly due to lack of initiatives of PWD Dept.

In North Dist. although the protest for National Highway has gone its extreme and as well as govt. has  already taken the initiative for it but in reality from North Tripura to South Tripura the whole state is suffering badly due to the pathetic condition of National Highways.

In North Tripura, officials sources said that no permanent solution of NH-44 has been coming soon. Before 2/3 months the problem would not be solved permanently, said DM sources at North. But as far as sources informed that the roads over there always depends upon the weather.Whenever rain comes then the roads become pathetic and this condition is since decades over there. However, the State govt. although tried to be at ease after blaming the Assam Govt., but the oppositions protested and presently the condition is trying to  make better.

National Highway is state-wide in pathetic shape. More than 1 year has been passed Badal Choudhury on August 1, 2014, raised the issue of developing Agartala-Sabroom segment in the National Highway 44, proper fund allocation for development and maintenance of the NH 44, NH 44 A, NH 208 and NH 108 (A) to get media attention. He also mentioned to provide the state with double lane connection. But the situation remains same and govt. has failed to take any initiative yet and day by day the condition is getting worse.
