AGARTALA, August 30 (TIWN): Despite being close to be an IT hub with the country’s third international internet gateway and pool of engineering students in the state, 22 years stint in power the left front government of Tripura is reluctant over establishing the sector in state known for a pool of natural resources. However, this has ultimately brought no response from the centre after state IT Minister Tapan Chakroborty meeting with union minister urged for setting up IIIT, IIT and IIM in Tripura.

The Union Minister for HRD did not put any commitment to the proposal of Chakroborty which had yet again brought a major embarrassment to the government and its engineering students who choose to go abroad once passed from the state degree colleges.

According to the experts there is pool of skilled educated youths in the state who passed from engineering colleges every year and goes abroad due to the lack IT infrastructures in the state.

The state also has adequate natural resources like power, gas to be explored for setting up industries and the roads and transports are going at par with the development in other region but fails to draw proper usage of its resources due to the lack of IT based companies or institutions.

Interestingly despite the neighbouring Bangladesh can develop parallel centers in Tripura to extend its IT exports as it will cost cheaper the government of Tripura had always been in stand saying government had already provided land for establishing industries.

All the northeastern states including Tripura would be connected to rest states across the country through railway by next 2020.

So far the government who set in power since 22 years in Tripura had always been first in race to seek fund from centre for establishing any kind of sectors in state and had failed to draw a better plan for the state yet today despite the state comes closer to other states of the northeastern region and rest of the states in the country.
