Fire breaks out in Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s resting place at Jirania

AGARTALA/JIRANIA June 30(TIWN): Just a day ahead of the 66th State based Van Mahotsav, fire broke out at the temporary rest house of Chief minister Manik Sarkar at Champabari ADC village under Jirania on Tuesday early morning. Keeping an eye on the chief minister Manik Sarkar’s visit at champabari under Jirania the concerned authority has constructed a temporary resting place for Chief Minister but unfortunately fire broke out in the resting place resulting panic among the authorities.

However, it is alleged that some miscreants has sparked fire in the rest house to create panic in the area and to disrupt the smooth conducts of the Vanmohatsav at Jirania on Wednesday.

Getting alarm Forest range officer and SDPO reached the spot and brought the situation under control and is further investigating the case.

However, there is no report of casualty so far.

It is to be mention here that the 66th State based Van Mahotsav will be celebrated at Jirania Birendranagar Boys Higher Secondary School on July 1.

During the programme, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will be present and is scheduled to inaugurate the Check dam. The theme of the programme will be ‘Save Howrah and Keep Howrah Clean’

Van Mahotsav which was started as a crusade with a lofty purpose to save the earth will be observed with plantation of saplings in various schools and Anganwadi of the area. Also with an aim to create awareness among the people, the concern authority is going to schedule various sports and competition.

The awareness among the people will lead them to know about the importance of trees for the survival of livelihood in the earth and the harm caused due to the deforestation. The people also need to understand about the essential role played by the trees to reduce global warming.

Van Mahotsava is an annual tree planting festival in the month of July. During this festival thousand of trees are planted all over India. In 1950, it was started by K. M. Munshi, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Food at that time. It was started to create awareness in the mind of the people for the conservation of forests and planting of new trees.

Keeping eye on the Van Mahotsav which will commence on July 1, competitions and other programmes will begin from June 26.

Further, on this occasion, two thousand saplings of fifty species will be supplied to plant it in different schools and Anganwadi. Also, various cultural programmes will be observed at the Kumulung Music College, Choudhuri Bari Girls Higher Secondary School and Ranigang Girls Higher Secondary School on July 1.
