AGARTALA, May 27 (TIWN): Union Minister for Sports Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday slammed the Manik Sarkar led CPI-M govt for rampant ‘corruption’ in this Left ruled state. “Tripura has no future until the CPI-M rule ends here,” said Sonowal adding that the Centre is giving adequate funds to the State, but development in Tripura did not take place as it should have been. Sonowal was talking to the reporters here at Agartala Muktadhara auditorium hall after the conclusion of the celebration programme of one year Modi governance. The uninterrupted 22 year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Multicrore Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. In this regard Sonowal said, “The CPI-M and its Left front govt. in Tripura is not giving justice to the poor people as the govt. is reluctant to work for the poor section of people of the state".He said that Central govt. is providing sufficient money to the state for its development but those are not being properly utilized by the Left front govt. Besides, taking up the issue of the MGNREGA status in Tripura Sonowal said, “The CPI-M Govt involved in rampant corruption under the MGNREGA scheme in Tripura.”

Adding to that he clarified that the poor people of the state getting deprived from their REGA wages at large as a result very recently thousands of workers has come to the street to protest the injustice to them made by the ruling govt. here.

“Let the govt. clarify that there is no corruption in its state and the poor people are not deprived,” Sonowal said adding that the only alternative to the CPI-M is the BJP in Tripura during the upcoming 2018 assembly election which would work for the poor and would be rescued from the deprivation.

However but it is worthy to mention here that the incessant visit of the BJP leaders being called by the BJP Pradesh Committee here has of course brought a countdown to Manik sarkar’s end of rule in Tripura as the corruptions, scams, financial transparency under his reign has been targeted very badly by the newly emerging BJP here in the Left ruled state.

This cites a very good example here that during the recently concluded elections to the tribal council the vote percentage of the CPI-M has narrowed by 10% and has lead the BJP to gain percentage of votes.

However, the growing support of the tribal people of the state for the BJP has of course worriying the ruling CPI-M and its Left front govt. with the BJP now aims to oust the CPI-M during the upcoming 2018 assembly poll.

Sonowal on Tuesday condemning the Pecharthal violence over delay in REGA payment, has handed over a cheque of Rs. 51, 000 to the family members of the victim who was riddled with bullet after the Police fired on the mob during the violence at Pecharthal.
