AGARTALA, April 27 (TIWN): Tripura Government Employees Organisation (TGEA), Health Rights Local Committee on Sunday organizes seminar on their mouthpiece “Amader Katha “. The welcome address was delivered by Media Secretary Rajesh Karmakar. The speech of the Chief Guest was delivered by Manoj Debroy, Secretary of “Amader Katha†and Media Secretary of TGEA.
Focusing on the issue of “Amader Katha”, the speakers in the programme told that during the king’s reign in Tripura in the year 1947, first organization for the employees in the name of Tripura State Government Association was established. Further after the merger of Tripura with Indian Union, the name was change to Tripura Government Employees Organisation.
After that in the year 1951, May 18th “Amader Katha” was first published under the 12 reviewers committee with Birendra Kishore Sengupta as leader. The seminar was organized to tackle terrorism, communalism and other major issues. Focusing more on the issue, Manoj Debroy told that,” since its inception, Amader Katha is facing tremendous troubles. Besides that it acts for the benefit of the people. A time had come when the Government advertisements were cut off for the mouthpiece to down its slogan of struggle.
But the organization had dealt with positive attitude. Among that the most significant was mentioned at the time in the year 1955 when Tripura was forced to include in Assam, Movement for the food in the year 1966, and Agitation of the industry workers in the year 1969, All India Strike in 1974 and so on.
