AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election likely to be held on the month of May first week if everything moves on a right track, with the political parties of the state have started campaigning on a full swing amidst allegations of deteriorating law and order ahead of the ADC poll. Leaving aside the part of the campaign in which the regional party, Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), has created ripples by demanding a separate state, "Twipraland", to be carved out of the ADC areas, the ruling CPI (M) along with other parties have alleged "terror tactics" by CPM cadres and "inaction by police" and resultant lawlessness and insecurity.According to the sources, the Chief Election Officer of the state S. K. Rakesh held a meeting with the 16 Returning Officers of the ADC area and the DMs recently, where it was decided (not final) that if everything falls on a right track the ADC election would be held during the first week of May, 2015. It is worthy to be mentioned here that earlier on March 19, CEO SK Rakesh held a meeting with all the political parties of the state and received several suggestions related to the ADC election schedule. The political parties had laid a stress to ensure better security to the election.

However, it is mentionable here that the demand of “Twipra land” by the tribal based political party IPFT has hit other political parties of the state as well as the common mass of the state ahead of the ADC poll, with the ruling CPI (M) talking tough on it brought out an allegation that this cannot be allowed by any means as the separate state will bring an unrest in the state. Besides, the CPI (M) and its left front govt. has brought a severe allegation against a section of the tribal based political parties of the state saying that they have a direct link with the banned militant outfit, and leaving no stone unturned the IPFT were alleged to have entertained a section of NLFT militant to make an entrance into the state and briong unrest in the ADC poll drawing near.

It is worthy to mention here that recently an incident had occurred at Khowai sub division where wire fencing along the bordering area was found cut and some of the tribal youths were witnessed to have assembled in front of the cut fence. However, this has of course once again brought a headache for the state govt. as well for the common mass ahead of the ADC poll.

However beside the a delegation of BJP state committee earlier this year met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and submitted a memorandum stressing on the deployment central forces for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council vote. They alleged that a section of political parties are trying hard enough to worry the ADC voters by creating a terror at the ADC areas. The BJP also stressed the need for early completion of barbed wire fencing along the state's 856km border with Bangladesh to prevent infiltration from across the border.

IPFT leaders conceded that the decision of the central government to create Telangana state has rejuvenated them as well as other groups in the country engaged in stirs for separate states. “We are not pushing for any irrelevant or unconstitutional demand; our state demand is lawful”, party president Narendra Chandra Debbarma said earlier.

IPFT which is known as a hardliner party and often blamed for its alleged soft stance on extremist movements is clearly trying to woo the tribal society after years of political isolation. The party or its rival, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT), an ally of Congress, hitherto failed to put any challenge to CPI (M) in tribal areas.
