AGARTALA, March 26 (TIWN): The state has gradually shaped itself into the safest corridor in India’s Northeast for passage of contraband drugs into the adjoining territory of Bangladesh. In yet another example the Kanchanpur sub division is flourishing with contraband items and gambling for the last couple of months and huge numbers of contraband drugs are smuggled to Bangladesh.

The police, administration and BSF are doing their best to stop smuggling of these contraband items. But they are unable stop the smuggling of contraband items as the smuggler gangs are hand in glove with ruling party and corrupt government officials, said a highly placed police source. Even though Tripura Police force and intelligence network is fully capable of tackling this statewide drug menace but evil nexus of political powers, mafia and civil administration keeping police force as mute spectators.

According to sources, local people raised allegation against police that local police has been maintaining mysterious role for their vested interest.  Kanchanpur Police allegedly maintains a delicate relation with anti social bad elements for their own interest under the Kanchanpur sub division and thus flourished different categories of gambling and open sale of contraband drugs. Just after dusk anti socials who deals in illegal business of contraband drug sale their items openly in a festive mood. As a result growing teen age youths are allured and thus they are derailed alarmingly.

Police are well aware of the situation but they did not take any action against them, the reason is still unknown. The Smugglers network are very deep-rooted and widespread. The smuggling of these contraband items would, in future, become a major deterrent to better Indo-Bangla relations, the source added. Due to easy availability of these contraband items a large section of youths of the city are becoming addicted.
