AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): Tripura Cabinet decided to bring a change in the rules and regulations of the State Mission management under the Tripura State Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM). The state mission management would be taken to the district and block level, told Finance and Information and Cultural Affair (ICA) Minister Bhanulal Saha on Tuesday evening. Talking to the reporters at the civil secretariat ICA Minister Bhanulal Saha also informed that the cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to induct 10 Assistant Demonstrators under the Sericulture department. Adding to that he said that the trained persons will be appointed directly on a fixed pay scale basis. Besides, five drivers will also be recruited for Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). Saha said that appointment of Dr. M. Shabir has been approved in the Cabinet. Shabir will be appointed as a Professor of Tripura Veterinary College, Saha told to reporters. Besides, he said that the state mission management under the Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) will also be modified for taking the scheme to the district and the block level.

However it is mentionable here that SGSY has been restructured as National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), subsequently renamed as "Aajeevika", to implement it in a mission mode across the country. The program was formally launched on 3rd June, 2011. The core belief of NRLM is that the poor have innate capabilities and a strong desire to come out of poverty. It is to establish efficient and sustainable institutions of the rural poor that enable them to increase household income through livelihood enhancements.

NRLM is the largest program for women in the world with its goal of reaching nearly 70 million rural households.
