KHOWAI, March 11 (TIWN): "80 percent people of the state are consuming drinking water from water treatment plants", said Minister for Public Works (Drinking Water and Sanitation) Ratan Bhowmik while inaugurating a water treatment plant at Puran Bazar in Khowai on Tuesday..
The water treatment plant will surely help the people of Khowai as its capacity is 80,000 gallon. “This kind of work would continue near future to provide safe drinking water to people”, he said.
The water treatment plant was constructed with a cost of Rs. 24.50 lakh, the minister mentioned.
Highlighting the good works of the Left Front government, Bhowmik said, “The state government has launched several schemes which the Central government doesn’t have. The government has been providing accommodation facility to shelter-less people”. He also reiterated that the government would continue to work for betterment of the people.
It is to be mentioned here that, many interior tribal localities in Tripura are facing acute drinking water crisis mainly caused by the dry spell.
