BOXANAGAR, Sep 13 (TIWN): Although the opposition parties have accused BJP for massive rigging during by-polls, there was no lack of enthusiasm among the BJP activists at BJP’s victory rally in Boxanagar. Newly Elected MLA Tofajjal Hossain who was not present in today’s rally, was filled up by Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder, Two new MLAs of BJP Tofajjal Hossain and Bindu Debnath took oath on Tuesday as new legislative members of the Tripura Assembly. Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen has administered the oath at Tripura Assembly. Chief Minister Manik Saha was also present in the oath taking program that was held at Tripura Assembly.
The election was held on September 5 and the result was declared on September 8. Opposition CPI-M had boycotted the counting alleging, massive rigging during votes.
Earlier, BJP was holding 1 seat and now BJP got one more seat in the assembly, totally two seats’ addition to the state Assembly, in a major relief for the party’s strength in the Assembly under Chief Minister Manik Saha’s rule.
After this win, its total number of seats in the Tripura assembly is 33.
BJP's Tafajjal Hossain won the Boxanagar seat and Bindu Debnath bagged the Dhanpur seat.
This win was crucial for BJP breaking the stereotype of anti-Musilm tagmark allegation against the party as both Boxanagar and Dhanpur seats are hugely Muslim and ST populated.
