BELONIA, Oct 18 (TIWN): Massive Doctors’ crisis was felt again when in a PHC at Maichara under Belonia Sub-Division in South Tripura was spotted Doctorless. Patients were waiting for Doctors for hours and as no Doctor was seen, many patients returned. This is not an isolated incident but in deep rural areas, the same problems are going on. In Tripura, over 400 passed-out Doctors are unemployed and more than 5,000 nurses are also unemployed, but the State Govt is not taking any serious attempts to recruit employees under the Health Dept. As per the local correspondent’s report within a long gap of 3 hours, no doctor was seen in the Health Center to provide services to the patients who were waiting eagerly for a Doctor.

Moreover, the hospital authorities had not made any arrangements for admission of patients in case of emergency. It is known that the Mychara Primary Health Center runs with only 3 Doctors and among them one Doctor has been given deputation to Belonia and another Doctor is on vacation. And now it has become impossible for the doctor to run the entire Primary Health Center alone and to provide medical services.

A low-pressure patient who was unable to move was waiting for Doctors for hours.

Patients raised complaints that the Doctor present in the Health Center is neglecting to provide medical services to the patients, resulting in many patients returning without getting treatment. The horrible situation of the Primary Health Center erupted resentment among the patient parties.

Amid such conditions, Tripura CM Biplab Deb claims that Tripura Health Services are better than Hyderabad and Mumbai.
