AGARTALA, June 13 (TIWN): In another development, Police have detained 2 men with huge quantities of Heroin. The drives took place under two police stations Champaknagar and Ranir Bazar. In the first drive, Champaknagar OP police arrested Drug Mafia Pradip Das (Mithun)a From Chintaram Kobra Para, Champaknagar. Police have recovered 13 container heroin from him. Then Sripada Chakraborty (27), resident of Kauwaban was arrested with 48 containers of heroin. Talking to OC-Saumen Das, he told the media that today morning police were informed via a secret source that there are huge stocks of drugs in Sripada Chakraborty. His vehicle which was being used for drug-smuggling was also seized. Over 36,000 rupees cash was found from him. Police are now interrogating both the accused persons.

Drug smuggling and consumption have drastically increased. A national report showed that after 2018, drug consumption had increased in the state.

The "Nesha Mukt Tripura" slogan was kept initially by Biplab Deb Govt for highlights but in various cases BJP's active members were held in drug-scandals. In Tripura Police officials were also killed by Drug smugglers and the vehicle which was seized was belonging to BJP's top leader's brother but no action was taken against him in Sonamura.
