AGARTALA, Aug 11 (TIWN): Although, 10323 teachers conducted blood donation camp and a section is claiming that Supreme Court’s verdict is an achievement for the former teachers, but with the Education Minister’s latest statement, once again confusions have been erupted in the matter. The Cabinet of Tripura Govt has been reported as being "yet confused" over the Supreme Court’s verdict given on 10323 teachers on Tripura Govt led filed petition. In a twist for 10323 teachers, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said on Monday, there is a confusion in Para 18 and Para 20 of the Supreme Court’s verdict and Govt is talking to senior advocates in this regard. “I am an advocate but not expert as Supreme Court advocate or Attorney Generalâ€, said Ratanlal Nath.
Explaining in brief, Minister Ratanlal Nath said, “I think, no State in India would have given such affidavit to Supreme Court for the 10323 teachers. In our affidavit, our demands were listed as : 1) To give age-relaxation for their recruitment, 2) We want to give them other jobs in Group-D, Group-C posts. If necessary, we will change the Recruitment Rules (RR), 3) Without advertisement, we want to recruit them in those posts. This 3rd point was accepted in a cabinet meeting as CM Biplab Deb reminded about Vision Document’s promise on Humanistic Approach to save their lives”.
The Minister then said, “After hearing, basically two matters have been noticed by us. 1) We submitted petition but already another group submitted separate petitions. According to me, that petition was not necessary and it would be better, if they had not appealed. In that, country’s famous lawyers stood with them. There, they said, our clients were in teaching. If they are given Group-D and Group-C posts, then it will be degradation. When Supreme Court gave verdict, it is said that State Govt’s attempt is not degradation. It hints we can give them jobs. 2) But at the end, it says all appeals are dismissed. In these points we are confusions”.
“We don’t want to say anything in advance. We are discussing with experts about the contradictions between point 18 and point 20”, said Ratanlal Nath.
