AGARTALA, July 8 (TIWN): Tripura has ranked second in the unemployment rate at 21.3% among the 28 states in India. According to Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt. Ltd (CMIE), it is Haryana which is having the highest unemployment rate at 33.6%, Tripura Second at 21.3 and Jharkhand is 21.0% that is the 3rd position. Neighboring Assam has the lowest unemployment rate in India that is Assam at 0.6%. Tripura's unemployment rates have been highest throughout the year, although this month, it is at 2nd position with massive surges in Haryana. CMIE said the unemployment rate fell “very sharply†from 23.5 per cent in May 2020 to 11 per cent in June. However, the think tank’s Managing Director and CEO Mahesh Vyas said the 11 per cent unemployment rate in June is “still quite high†compared to the less than than 8 per cent rate before the lockdown.
