AGARTALA, May 29 (TIWN): Tripura ‘s COVID-19 active cases are right now 84 whereas total cases are 255, which is the second in the Northeast. Chief Minister Biplab Deb has reviewed the Health care facilities status, along with measuring the status of quarantine centres. State also has continued transport services phrasewide with the first regular flight started from today carrying 166 passengers from Kolkata via Indigo flight. Talking about the flight journey, boarding process to media, Airport Director V.K.Seth said that Indigo flight has landed today with 166 passengers and more 167 passengers will be taken off from Agartala Airport. He said that the services likely to be increased from 1st June as most doubted service which from Kolkata NSCBI Airport is functional now. He said that this is the breaking of suspension of regular flight services which halted from 25th March. “The management was excellent and the guidelines of Airport operations like social distancing, testing – all were maintained without any compromise”, said the Airport Director.

In all 129 Indians, who returned to Tripura from Bangladesh, on Thursday were admitted to the institutional quarantine centre.

Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das also reached the check-post by road from Dhaka to supervise the return formalities. Lok Sabha Member and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pratima Bhowmik also visited the ICP.

Tripura Education and Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said 133 people had approached the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

"The returnees would remain at the quarantine centre till their swab samples tested negative for coronavirus. Given the wide spread of coronavirus in Bangladesh, the authorities have been extra careful about the people coming from there," Nath told the media.

In Bangladesh, 40,321 people have been infected with nCoV. It has claimed 560 lives.

8 Bangladesh returnees were tested positive today. 

However, Tripura Govt has preferred Home Quarantine for all returners (except abroad cases). Citing Kerala COVID-19 Health model, Tripura Law Minister Ratanlal Nath on Wednesday has said that even the so called model state Kerala has made Home Quarantine mandatory and the persons going from other states, must be in Home Quarantine according to the Govt’s law there. Minister Ratanlal Nath reacted on this issue referring public led massive allegations, frustration over newly arriving people to state who were stranded outside due to Lockdown and many now tested positive.

Nath said, “People are losing patience. State’s people will come back to state it is natural. Even many states are trying to close quarantine centres. If 500 people live in a centre what about toilet and other facilities ? We must be practical”.
