AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): ‘For Public welfare Bridge construction took place in 2008-09, Cost-plus was approved by Assembly, how can Police investigate on Assembly’s passed bill ?’, Senior Advocate Bikash Bhattacharjee today has raised this question before state’s media on Tripura Police’s hyper-active FIR against former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury which was lodged suddenly on 13th October. Bikash Bhattacharjee was addressing media after the hearing on Badal Choudhury case completed today and verdict date was listed for next Tuesday. Bikas Bhattacharjee said that when the Advocate General was imposing criminal charges against Badal Choudhury, we said that the cost plus was passed in Assembly and also all payments were given to them who worked for the construction and thus Police’s investigation is totally invalid in the matter and now we hope Court will check the whole issue. However, today in the alleged politically motivated FIR and case of BJP led State Govt against former CPI-M PWD Minister Badal Choudhury, High Court has completed the hearing today and the final verdict on the FIR’s ground to be announced on December 10.

Addressing media, senior advocate Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharjee on behalf of Badal Choudhury said, “In Tripura such a big construction work was never done earlier. Cabinet decided that 10% cost plus will not be maintained for any company but to complete the work, hurdles came and the companies which had shown interest to do the work, based on their demands, works were given. Tripura conducted these developmental works and those who worked for the construction they all were paid and thus there is no corruption. After the total hearing, High Court has listed the next Tuesday for hearing. Hoping, Court will consider and check all the sides and will pass the final judgement”.However, the senior advocate Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharjee's statement sounded confident after hearing in former Minister Badal Choudhury's case completed at Tripura High Court today.

The issue was “cost plus” and the present Govt thinks that extra funds uses for bringing outside companies caused losses to Tripura Govt.

In last over two months, state has seen Home Ministry led dramatic situations to put Badal Choudhury in lock-up of West Agartala PS and police custody. Four times Badal Choudhury’s health went down whereas on October 30, state witnessed the massive brutality of state govt when Badal Choudhury was forced to bring out of ILS hospital and put in West Agartala PS lockup. Law Minister Ratanlal Nath held sets of press meets imposing beliefs on masses that Badal Choudhury is thief CM Biplab Deb too took similar stand and organized speeches in programmes to say the same. Now, CPI-M has moved to High Court claiming the FIR itself is bogus and the verdict will be on December 10.
