SONAMURA / AGARTALA, Nov 14 (TIWN): BJP MP Pratima Bhowmik’s drug-smuggler brother Biswajit Bhowmik and other Yuva Morcha workers today conducted a massive attack on the former Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar at Sonamura where he was travelling to see an attacked, burnt party office of the CPI-M, which was vandalized and set on fire by the BJP November 12. The miscreants gheraoed the convoy of Manik Sarkar and raised "go back" slogan. It happened after CPI-M on yesterday marched the biggest ever political rally of 201 led by the agitated farmers at capital city Agartala.

 Addressing directly from Sonamura, Manik Sarkar said, “At first BJP burnt the party office asking whether CPI-M will observe November revolution again in this state”.

 Sarkar said directly that it can not happen that Police were not aware about the whole thing. Police must knew that BJP doesn’t want that the opposition leaders should visit there. Sarkar further hit BJP’s “fascism” and “undemocratic” attitudes. 

“There is no reason that police was ignorant about it. However, we had escorts who were trying to prevent the BJP activists but I asked all to control the situation and let not put in this trap. I have seen, the road blockers were calling other common men who were standing far but nobody supported the miscreants to attack us. There is no doubt that it was a pre-plan activity of the ruling BJP and it is also not a new incident”.

Yuva Morcha local leader Prasenjit Ghosh was also involved in this attack along with Biswajit Bhowmik and too directed the party office burning on November 12.

Addressing media, CPI-M State Secretary Gautam Das said, “A team of delegation of MLA led by opposition leader, politburo member Manik Sarkar were on the way to Machima, which is under Sepahijala District and Sonamura Subdivision under the Assembly Constituency of Dhanpur where Manik Sarkar is representing for last 5 times. Just two days back, the BJP miscreants attacked the CPI-M Office first, vandalized it and set fire in the party office. Today the delegations had informed the Director General Of Police and other officials that they will visit in that place, but they were prevented by BJP miscreants led by none other than but Biswajit Bhowmik, a known rowdy and brother of MP Pratima Bhowmik who is in the Parliament via rigging”.

“This incident proves how the BJP is running the state and what sort of undemocratic party it is. This is the glaring example how the BJP is targeting the opposition across the state. Though the Director General of the Police (A K Sukla) was informed earlier about the visit by eminent delegations but there was no security arrangements”, said Gautam das.

“We CPI-M condemning this undemocratic, fascistic attack of the ruling party. We also request all democratic people to condemn this incident”, said Gautam Das.
